Calabash Town Hall
882 Persimmon Road, Calabash. MonโFri 8amโ5pm.
Calabash building permits
Building Inspector: 910-579-0500, MonโFri 8amโ5pm. Inspections need 24 hours' notice. Applications are in the Town's Document Center; permit fees are paid through Xpress Pay.
Calabash yard debris
Curbside yard debris pickup is the first Monday of each month, in brown paper bags. Town Services also takes yard debris and recyclables MonโFri 7amโ4pm at 619 Persimmon Road.
Calabash property tax
Town rate $0.070 per $100. Since 2013 the County sends one statement that covers county tax, fire fees and the Town tax.

Paid parking & permits
Sunset Beach taxpayers can register up to two vehicles free with their Parcel ID. If you registered in summer 2025, you are carried over to 2026; check your SurfCAST account after February 1.
Enforced: 9amโ5pm daily, April 1 to October 31; free outside those hours. Plates are read by camera.
Passes are bought on the SurfCAST app or website.
The street rules
Registered, inspected carts may use streets posted 35 mph or less, never sidewalks, the bike path or the beach strand. Drivers 16+ with a license; everyone belted. Apr 1โOct 31, 9amโ5pm, no cart parking on Sunset Blvd or the Streetscape, Gazebo or 40th Street lots.

Pay your property tax
The Town contracts with Brunswick County to bill and collect Town taxes, so Sunset Beach owners get one County statement.
Town tax statements go out in late September from the County Tax Office and are payable by January 1.

NC Tag & Tax Together
Your vehicle property tax is billed together with your registration renewal. The DMV mails the notice about 60 days before your tags expire. Pay online at myNCDMV (the payment processor adds $3 + 1.85%), by mail, or at a license plate agency.
